Today I was boring. I wasn't bored, but I was boring. I guess I've been running too much and my body was not interested in allowing one more day of that before resting up.
Sarah and I were going to visit the Cliffs of Dover today, but we were both so exhausted from yesterday that we decided to postpone that trip for another day. I decided to take a nap, and Caitlin and Sarah decided to go shopping (or maybe it was the other way around. . . If they had decided to do something else I may have gone. And I would have hated myself for it later. . . anyways).
I woke up an hour or two later and found that I'd been more exhausted than I'd realized. I decided to read my book and woke up again who-knows-how-long-I-was-out later. And that's kind of the pattern of how my day went.
Lizzie is sick and trying to get better, so she was up in our room with me. We chatted a bit, but mostly we were just comfortable being in the same room together. We did watch a movie together at some point, which was fun. I think it's good to have a day to relax every now and again. Also, a day spent with a book is never a waste.
Eventually, I got sick of being in our room (and I was also hungry so that was a pretty good motivator) so I made a Tesco run. I'm sick of restaurants right now.
It's always an interesting walk to Tesco. There have been a few times where this Jamaican guy has been playing a drum of some sort in a fun rhythm while singing, "swing your body swing your body swing your body round and round. Every body swing your body!" He was there tonight and I found myself unintentionally walking in time to the beat both on the way to the store and on the way back. I liked having a bit of music on the street.
I've also noticed that I hear a lot more French where we are than I do English. Or maybe I just hear more French here than I was expecting. I'm sad that my French is already so rusty, but that's what happens when you stop using a language you studied every day. I can still eavesdrop on some conversations, though. Usually they're about what's going on around us. I duno. It's fun that I can focus and understand what people are saying.
And that was today. No pictures, no energy, but I'm still smiling. Life really is wonderful :)
