Back to London

Today was our last day in Scotland. We had to be at the train station at 2:30 so I suppose it was a half day. It was great having that time, though. I'm going to miss Edinburgh a bit.

Amy, Chloe, and I set out in search of a farmers market that we'd been told about. We didn't find the market, but we did wander through some very windy streets. The weather today was the worst it had been the entire trip. It wasn't necessarily bad weather, but the wind was strong and that made the raindrops sting a little at times. But I'm glad that's the worst the weather got. We were so blessed while we were there!

We gave up on trying to find the market and decided to wander the streets and see what we could see. We found a shake place called Shakeaway that was lifechanging. Unfortunately, Shakeaway is primarily a UK thing and the closest ones to Utah are in Texas and California. Maybe someday it'll make its way to my state. In the meantime, I will be content with the knowledge that I had one of the most incredible milkshakes I have had in my life. That's a pretty good experience to have, I think.

We continued to wander the streets of Edinburgh and, because it was a bit chilly and quite blustery, we popped into any and all shops that looked interesting. We found ourselves inside Jennings and M&S which were both fun and out of our price range, and then we found this adorable vintage-y store.

The lady who owned the vintage store was Australian and she was one of the most charming people I have ever met. I wish I could remember the name of the store because it was a lovely place that people should visit. I didn't buy anything--though there were a few little books that were tempting--but Amy walked out with a necklace made out of a vintage stamp. It sounds a little odd, but it's actually quite cool. I should have snapped a picture of it.

After we'd killed all the time we needed to kill we went back to the hotel to get our stuff, and then went back to Pig in a Poke one more time. The owner who helped us last time was there and came over because he recognized Amy and Chloe. He didn't remember me and after they'd gone to wait outside I was just another customer, but it's okay. That means I'm blending in :)

We then headed over to the train station and headed back to London. I had a lovely train ride back; I sat by Chloe and most of the time was spent in comfortable silence. We were sitting behind Caitlin, Kenna, Ruby, and Hannah, and close to Lizzie and Sarah, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I actually spent a lot of time reading one of the books I bought yesterday (it is a compilation of gorgeously translated Grimm fairy tales). I loved it.

Upon getting home, Kenna and I headed back to Mulberry Pizza (because their pizza is good and because they have root beer). I purchased the most expensive can of root beer of my life, but it was worth it. It also happened to feel like the best can of root beer I've ever had. Life is pretty good.

I thought this was a delightful idea. They have a poem of the season posted here. I suppose it changes. That would make sense, at least.

If you were interested in reading it. . .

This was cool, too. The widows of this entire building were decorated like such.

I actually didn't a strawberry milkshake today which is sort of a big deal for me. This one was Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and chocolate. And lots and lots of barely-sweetened whipped cream.

There were so.many.flavors. On second thought, it's probably a good thing there aren't any Shakeaways close to home. It would be quite tempting if there were.

Look at the Wicked Wendy 2 (bottom left)

In M&S Home Decor. Why not have a floral stag in your home?

We also went into a second-hand and bargain bookstore. This time, though, we all (miraculously) walked out empty-handed. These all made me happy, though.

I will always be drawn to fairy tales, I believe.

And now we're back in London and entering our last week here. That's a crazy thing to think about. It's already been six weeks, and now I have two and a half weeks remaining until I'm back home. I guess time really does possess the ability to fly.
