Sunday: A Day of Rest

Okay I got boring this week. I think I need to start going to be earlier or something so I actually have the energy to be exciting. Maybe I'll go to bed tonight. Possibly. We'll see.

This Sunday was a pretty relaxed which was just what I needed (how many days have I been saying that? Three?). We went to church across town and that's where my ward will be for the next six weeks. White skin is more of an anomaly here than where I come from (which is not at all difficult to do), and it was so nice being with the incredible members here. I found my testimony strengthened by hearing theirs, and I can't wait to get to know these wonderful men and women.

It was this ward's Ward Conference so the meetings were largely dictated by the Spirit and the stake president. We talked a lot about helping less active members come back to church, and how to improve our own spiritual and temporal wellness. I definitely learned a lot that I can apply to my life.

The block was split into two meetings instead of the usual three. The first meeting was so hot and muggy. I felt like I was breathing in water. England is the ocean compared to the arid desert air I'm accustomed to. The second meeting was air conditioned and quite cold. So between the two meetings church was the perfect temperature.

During sacrament meeting we heard from the bishop, a member of the stake presidency, a few members who bore sweet testimonies, and the stake president. I grew up in the church, as did most of my friends, so a hearing these people's conversion stories was sweet and inspiring. I really have been so blessed to have the gospel in my life throughout it, and I realize now how enormous of a blessing that is. The Church is true.

After church I fell asleep until dinner. I didn't realize I was that tired but. . . evidence shows that I was. Dinner was delicious and there was so much food! I feel like there will be leftovers for days.

After dinner I got to Skype my family because it's Mother's Day! That was the highlight of my day. I am so grateful for technology that allows me to stay in contact with the people I love most.

And that was today. I only took one picture today, and that was on my phone. This is the view from the top of the main staircase. So.many.stairs. I'm getting my exercise over here.

And that was today. Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting. We'll see. Have the loveliest of Sundays.

  1. I KNOW THAT CARPET AAAAAHHH. Can you take pictures of the main level for me? I want to see how much it's changed. Sorry to keep bugging you about it.

I remember being very surprised and impressed at the amount of people of color in my England ward. It was so awesome.

Cambry, I am just so excited for you all the time. I love reading your blog. Thanks for being so awesome, my friend.

    1. Yes I'll take pictures of the first floor, don't you worry. We don't spend a whole lot of time in the Centre, but I'll document it for you.

I'm glad you like reading it! I certainly enjoy writing it, but it's good to know it's fun to read for other people who aren't myself or my mom :)
