Professor Talbot is one of the funniest professors I've ever had. He is incredibly intelligent and gets so excited about everything he teaches. I almost can't keep up! But his zeal for learning is contagious.
After class we decided to do another walk. This walk was purportedly forever long, but it only took an hour to an hour and a half. It was cool, though. The walk took us back in time, so to speak, and we walked by structures dating from the Roman times to now. I know I keep saying this, but it is incredible how much history you run into by walking down a street! It's everywhere and it's so exciting.
Today's walk took us through the City of London (the business sector of town) and I once again found myself in my yellow dress amongst greys and browns. It was funny. I'm still trying to decide if the strict observance to wear neutral colors is a Europe thing, or if it's limited to London. I'm hoping it's the latter.
We also visited the Shake Shack for lunch because it was receiving incredible reviews about how it's the best burger around. It was okay, but far from incredible. The fries were delicious, though. And they were labeled as "fries" on the menu--not "chips." I don't think we'll be visiting that place again, but it was a good experience.
We also stopped by a Tesco's (yay!) right before hopping on the tube to come home and I found the most incredible water ever. It's strawberry flavored, but it's not super sweet. It actually tastes like you're drinking a strawberry! Seriously amazing. I don't think I could replace my water with it, but it was delightful. We also found Skittles-flavored milk, but decided to leave that one alone.
And now for pictures!
The Shake Shack in Covent Garden
This church is where Mother Goose is buried. Nothing says nursery rhymes like a few skulls.
This was seen on the side of a building.
A Jewish synagogue is past this gate.
This restaurant looked delicious.
This is probably the tallest building I've seen in London, yet. I looked up at it and got dizzy. It looked like it was moving. It probably was because it was really windy today.
Another pic of the same building
This is a church whose name escapes me, but it's located on Bishop's Street.
Just a cool building. I don't actually know what it's for.
A goat statue. And in the distance you can see Christ's Church.
She found a sculpture of a pear and an. . . onion?
Or maybe it's garlic. . .
Christ's Church
Cool business buildings. Eliot was incredibly worried that people were turning away from God and turning toward money and you definitely get that sense in London, but the glass reflects the clouds and the sky so prettily I have a hard time believing that it's all bad.
Stairs found in a quiet little square in the middle of the City.
The square/courtyard mentioned above.
There was this beautiful water feature that we sat by for a few minutes. I didn't realize how much I missed the sound of water running over rocks until I heard it again.

The sun was beautiful today.
Part of a group of sculptures entitled the Broad family. Look at the feet.
Again, I don't know what this building was, but I liked it.
And this is just around the corner. History in a few feet.
Found in Finland Circus
The camera didn't capture the color correctly, but these flowers were the deepest of purples. They were so beautiful.
Cool office building.
A museum that reminded me of the toys my brothers enjoyed growing up.

This is part of the Roman wall. It's just down the street from the office building above. How cool is that?!
Cool set of buildings by a museum. They looked like steps to me.
This was in a church courtyard. I love finding the little oases in the midst of all the glass, steel, and stone.

Tombstones.
St. Paul's Cathedral. I'm going to visit there before I leave.
