Best Friends and Good-byes

Today was bittersweet. My best friend in the whole entire world gave her mission farewell talk for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is remarkable and completely prepared. She will make an amazing missionary. However, this means that I won't be able to talk to her regularly for the next eighteen months. I will be able to write letters (and maybe improve in that area significantly. It's not hard to improve from never) and see pictures and it's only eighteen months.

But eighteen months has never seemed longer in my life. I love her dearly and it's going to be hard to let her go.

So here's a trip down memory lane. We've been best friends since we were eleven so this is going to be a long one. I'm maybe a little sorry.

Brittney and I have been best friends for eight years now. This particular picture is from when we modeled for our friend in Photo our Senior year. We did a lot of growing up that year.

Brittney has always been happy and incredibly willing to give cheesy grins.

She's creative.

She was born to fly.

And apparently do mermaid hair when it suits her.

She was the glue that held the three of us together for a time (but long before the time of this picture).

She's a musician who isn't afraid to try out different instruments on for size during our lunch break.

We were once declared Pinky and the Brain by a guy in our Single's ward. I guess we're supposed to take over the world or something? I duno. But if we did, this would be our campaign picture.

Again, with the cheesy grins.

And marvelous crazy faces.

She and I did Pep band together. She's actually the main reason I joined band. She started in 7th grade and raved about it every chance she got. I decided to give it a go and fell in love with it, too. Music is a part of her.

She makes an adorable cowgirl as well as a wonderful double for dances.

She's adventurous in her instrument learning.

But isn't afraid to laugh at herself when she doesn't sound professional yet (and I know this picture is blurry, but I love her laugh).

And if she puts her mind to something there's no way to put out that fire of determination in her eyes.

She's a great buddy in Disneyland and on band tour.

She's a sweetheart.

She'll kindly take pictures she knows her brothers will like.

She's adorable.

She's willing to try to learn every instrument she can get her hands on.

She's been a happy person to have around.

She's adventurous and has creative vision. She isn't afraid to explore.

People used to think we were twins, sisters, or cousins. They were always shocked to find out we aren't actually related.

She isn't afraid to explore her surroundings.

She's happy to do so.

She builds forts.

She finds forts wherever she goes.

She has a love and capacity for learning that I find admirable.

She's beautiful inside and out. Her spirit radiates from her being.

She let me come to her family reunion one year.

The three of us were inseparable.

She loves fire.

Her ward got placed in my stake and we were able to go to Girls' Camp with each other for two or three years. It was an enormous blessing.

She's happy.

She's sensitive to things that could be less than desirable.

She has the best pirate face.

Music is a part of her being.

It always will be.

She's willing to squeeze onto a couch with a bunch of people she doesn't know and me.

She's spunky.

She's gorgeous.

She was my dance-attending buddy always. If she didn't go, there was no way you'd find me there.

She likes her teeth.

She dances.

Kind of.

She's funny.

She's adorable. (I don't even know how many times I've said this, but it's true)

She's happy.

She loves Summerfest just as much as I do. She made it ten times as fun as it was before I started going with her.

She's a dreamer.

She makes marvelous eighth-note cakes.

We're happy with each other.

We have fun!

She has a "grumpy goldfish eating face".

She's fun to have at Youth Conference.

She loves slushies from Summer Sno.

She's dangerous with a marshmallow gun.

She's a talented. . . well everything. She's a marvelous photographer.

She's beautiful.

She has an attractive tongue.

She's happy and looks to the future with hope.

I love her.

She was the best roommate I could ever have asked for.

She came up with creative ways to make her bed.

She impulsively cut her hair short our Freshman year of college and I love it.

She's a cool cat (pun intended).

Creative wayS to make her bed.

She loves birds and fuzzy sweaters.

She's the best to surprise with people she loves and a cake.

She's STILL the best double.

She LOVES birds.

She has creative solutions to problems.

She's my best friend.

Brittney, I am so grateful for your light that you share readily with the world. You are remarkable. Now go and let the world see your light. I love you.
